Yadkin Valley
 Yadkin Valley is a large area at the foot of
the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina
and encompasses Surry County, Wilkes County
and Yadkin County. The area is perhaps best
known for its wineries and vineyards.
The Yadkin Valley is close to Winston Salem,
Statesville, and it includes Elkin, Mt.
Airy, Dobson, North Wilkesboro, Yadkinville
and Boonville.
Since the Yadkin Valley is known for its
wineries, many of the places in the area
offer tours of the vineyards where you can
learn more about the wines and the area. The
Yadkin Valley Wine Festival takes place
every year in Elkin and is a great way to
get a taste of some of the area’s wines.
 Elkin, is also home to the Yadkin Valley
Pumpkin Festival which takes place in
October. The Yadkin Valley is a nature
lover’s haven, with lots of trails for
hiking or biking in the area. The Blue Ridge
Parkway runs through the Yadkin Valley and
is a popular spot for hiking as well. The
Yadkin River is also perfect for canoeing,
kayaking and fishing. Stone Mountain State
Park and Pilot Mountain State Park are also
close by and offer more outdoor activities.
